Trying a sport in Playa del Carmen

If you want to get a breather from your Spanish language lessons in Playa del Carmen, why not consider learning a sport in the city? Whether you are interested in underwater or ‘out-of-the-water’ sport, Playa has just got something to keep you busy – or at least take your mind off from school for a while.

Diving

When in Playa, the Caribbean Sea is something that attracts many tourists. With its clear and calm waters, it provides a perfect venue to dive and explore the magnificent beauty of the underwater world. You can marvel on the limestone rocks that took millions of years to form and be in awe with the many sea creatures – some of which are even endemic in the place. The underwater beauty of Playa del Carmen falls next to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef being the world’s biggest barrier reef.

If you are an amateur diver though, you might consider taking a Discover Scuba first which is a trial dive with the help of an instructor. It usually comes after a lesson in the pool.

Fishing

Fishing enthusiasts will definitely not be disappointed in Playa del Carmen. With the city’s vast marine flora and fauna, one would just be filled with excitement with the wide variety of fish in its waters. Even long-time fishing lovers will consider Playa a great fishing destination!

Aside from the two mentioned sports, the Caribbean is also ideal for all other forms of water sports. You can go snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, and kite surfing if you wish to.

Golfing

If water sports aren’t your cup of tea, then try a sport away from the water, like golf. With many spectacular golf facilities in Playa, you will surely be pleased to play the sport in the city. One of Playa’s top golf stop is Playacar. Located on the city’s southern part, the place features an 18-golf course that was designed by Robert van Hagge, a world renowned golf course designer.

If you want some indoor sport, you can visit Playa’s Unidad Deportiva which has sports facilities for indoor sports like basketball and tennis.

There really is no dull moment in Playa del Carmen. With all these sports options, getting athletic while learning the Spanish language is always possible.
