IL Spanish Methodology

Teaching Methodology

IL Spanish offers the best language teaching methodology

  • IL Spanish offers their students high-quality human and technical resources, in addition to the experience we have gained since 2012.

  • IL Spanish combines different pedagogical techniques, focused on a communicative approach, in order to reach every kind of learner.

  • As an IL Spanish student, you are also encouraged to develop an intercultural competence with a combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will lead you to create positive relationships with the society that surrounds you.

IL Spanish methodology has been developed according to the experience of the many years of expertise and training of each of our team members. In addition, numerous pedagogies have been analyzed to create an effective and tested method.

IL Spanish method has 6 steps:

Upon enrolling, each student is assessed to determine their level of proficiency in Spanish. This includes vocabulary, grammar, speech and written understanding through a special Spanish online test, specifically designed for this purpose. A level is assigned based on both the knowledge of the language and the ability to speak.

Based on the level, learning style, and the desired outcomes, a custom program is developed and outlined for each student. This program takes into account the student’s schedule and availability, their level and the teacher who best suits their goals.

At this step learning is done in two ways: one with private classes with an instructor specialized in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and the second through interactive materials, designed by our expert teaching team, through our e-learning platform, autonomously but with the possibility of contacting your teacher at any time.

This process has proved to be one of the best ways to learn a language. With the IL Spanish method, students learn to speak, think, read and write in Spanish much more effectively.

Teachers guide conversations with clear, academic goals in mind, as well as each student’s interests and views.

Ongoing assessments are conducted to determine how each student is progressing and whether the student is ready to progress to the next level. If a student is having difficulty in a particular area and is not advancing as expected, the instructor will adjust the course or their approach to help the student learn more quickly.

After the progress report and feedback, according to the progress of each student, the teaching level will be adapted to the particular needs observed in their study of Spanish. If the student is progressing, the level, materials, and classes will also do so but, if the student needs to reaffirm their knowledge, the course will also be adapted to suit their needs.

After finishing the course, a final evaluation that will determine the progress the student has had during the course will be held, and an accreditation certificate will be provided.

Real, high-quality materials

To create our materials we have compiled real language samples from different Spanish-speaking countries, used in different contexts in daily professional life and in areas such as tourism, medicine and the environment of human resources, job interviews, personnel selection, etc.

Besides texts and exercises, we use a wide range of additional teaching materials to guarantee high-quality instruction in all areas: speaking, reading, writing, listening, grammar and vocabulary. We use games and role-playing to improve communication between students and to inspire their creativity, capacity for association of concepts and reflection as well as their cultural understanding.

  • TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling): a comprehensible input methodology.

  • Multiple Intelligences: visual, verbal, logical, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalist – there are many different ways to demonstrate intellectual ability. Consequently, all the eight intelligences will be covered.

  • Speaking is achieved through games, songs, and stories you will gradually become well acquainted with.

  • Reading and writing is taught through age-appropriate activities based on familiar materials used in the class.

  • There will also be an ongoing assessment with constant feedback to the students.

Furthermore, the curriculum for our students of all levels meets the requirements of the Instituto Cervantes, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning.

The best way to learn Spanish

At IL Spanish we know the usual problems our students face while learning a language like Spanish. Usually the classroom courses are held in groups, with little time to focus on the specific problems of each student. There is no real personalized attention.

That is why we have developed a dual method, consisting of one-to-one online classes and self-learning with updated materials designed for our students. You will be supervised by your teacher at all times.

We are convinced that succeeding in a new language is a direct result of close collaboration between the teacher and the student. During the classes, the teacher must always be available to the student as a resource and aid in the student’s daily work.

Our teaching method is based in a communicative approach and the action-oriented learning established by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). In our lessons you will find a balance of all the skills involved in using a language. Usually our teachers use a mixture of conversation, grammar, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation which help you improve your communication capacity.
