Today we want to show you all the useful information you need if you travel to Latin America

Please make sure to discuss with your health insurance provider whether they provide cover for you during your language holiday, or whether you need supplementary health insurance.
Please ensure you leave enough time to make all necessary arrangements with regard to money prior to your departure. The easiest and cheapest way to access money is usually by using your debit card once you have arrived at your course location. The charges for using your debit card abroad to withdraw money are relatively low and you are usually given a good exchange rate.
Please discuss your limit for withdrawals abroad with your bank before you leave. In addition, you can also take traveler’s checks with you. These are a bit more expensive, but insured. Traveler’s checks should be made out in US dollars. Check with your bank if the destination of your choice accepts travelers checks and if there are places where you can exchange them for local currency.
You can also take a credit card with you. Visa and MasterCard tend to be the most common in most countries.
If you are traveling to the USA or have a stopover in the USA, you will need a machine-readable passport. Please ensure well in advance your passport fulfills the necessary requirements.
Please note flights are usually cheaper the earlier you book them. Flights can be fully booked in a short space of time, particularly in the summer months from June to August. If you fly via the USA, you are sometimes allowed to take more baggage with you, which can be advantageous if you are staying for a longer period of time.
You will need an adapter for your electrical appliances. You will need 110 volt alternating current (AC), 60 hertz, standard American plug/outlet. The best thing to do is to bring a universal travel adapter which you can buy in most department stores.
Attention: the visa requirements are subject to change. Please contact the consulate or embassy of the respective country for more information on current visa regulations.
EU Citizens and Americans do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days, but your passport must be valid at least 6 months past the day of your entry and you need a return or onward journey ticket and adequate cash resources. When entering the country you will receive an entry stamp which allows you to stay in Costa Rica for 90 days. This visa can be renewed if you leave Costa Rica for more than 72 hours (e.g. to Panama).
Americans and EU Citizens do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days, but your passport must be valid at least 6 months longer counting from the day of your entrance and you need a return or onward journey ticket. When entering the country you will receive an entry stamp which allows you to stay in Ecuador for 90 days. In case you stay longer than 90 days in Ecuador you need a visa.
For a stay of up to 180 days, Americans and EU citizens do not need a visa, but they do need a passport valid for at least 6 months and adequate cash resources. Upon entry, you will receive an entry stamp that states that you are allowed to stay in Mexico for 180 days.
