The best things Spanish to do in Alicante

The city of Alicante is one of the best destinations of the Costa Blanca, a place full of life with a large offer of activities and tourists from all over the world.

  • Walk around the Esplanade de España and have a beer, an ice cream or have dinner in one of the restaurants along the esplanade.

  • Spend the day on one of the magnificent beaches of the city: the playa del Postiguet near the downtown of Alicante; or the playa de San Juan, which is situated at a few kilometers from the city.

  • Rent a car and do a tourist route with your friends in the localities of the province like Benidorm, Altea, Calpe or Denia.

  • Visit the most representative places and buildings of the city such as the castle of Saint Barbara, from where you can enjoy great views of Alicante, the Central Market, the Town House, the cathedral of San Nicolas and the Basilica of Santa Maria. It is also a good option to go see an exhibition at the archaeological museum in Alicante.

  • Go to the island of Tabarca, the only inhabited island from the Valencian Community. You can get there with the famous Kontiki boat or with a catamaran. It is ideal to spend a relaxed day on the beach.

  • Go out in the area of the Casco Antiguo where there are many bars where you can enjoy the music and where you can have a drink with your friends. During Summer, the nightlife area on the beach of San Juan is ideal and can be enjoyed all night long.

  • Taste the typical gastronomy of the city, such as red prawns, Alicante style rice and fishermen’s rice, the olleta, the turron de Jijona and the ice cream of turron de Jijona.

  • In the city of Alicante, you can enjoy festivities almost all year round. The Semana Santa in April, the famous Hogueras de San Juan in June, the Carnival in February and the Moors and Christians, which are celebrated on different dates in some of the neighborhoods.
